River Woods Retreat: Hot Tub, Hikes, 2 Fireplaces, EV

River Woods Retreat is a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath log cabin on 5.8 wooded acres in Bentonville, Virginia (Warren County), above the Shenandoah River near Massanutten Mountain. It sleeps 6. No other homes are within a quarter mile.

BEDROOMS

• Owner's suite on the main floor with a king bed, a gas fireplace, a TV and its own bath
• Two bedrooms upstairs, each with a queen bed
• A futon in the open loft, best for a young child

BATHROOMS

• Owner's bath with dual sinks, a jetted tub, a shower and the other side of the gas fireplace
• Full bath upstairs
• Full bath with a shower in the game room
• Half bath on the main floor

INSIDE

• Great room with the kitchen, dining table and living room, a gas fireplace and tall windows
• Full kitchen with drip and Keurig coffee makers, cookware and dishes
• Game room on the lower level (new in March 2026): 8 foot Brunswick slate pool table, wet bar, TV and couches, a desk, and a table for board games
• Washer and dryer

OUTSIDE

• 460 gallon Jacuzzi hot tub with a waterfall, under the deck, seats 6
• Deck seating, a propane grill and a fire pit (bring your own firewood)
• A wooden A frame fort for kids

EV CHARGING

• ChargePoint Home Flex, Level 2, 40 A, J1772 plug. Tesla drivers need their J1772 adapter.

INTERNET AND PHONES

• Wi-Fi, about 110 Mbps in our last speed test
• AT&T gets LTE here, and guests report Verizon and T-Mobile work too. The landline has free calling in the US.

RIVER AND TRAILS

The cabin is not on the river. The neighborhood's river access point is about a 10 minute walk. You can float down from the Bentonville boat ramp, 3 miles upriver, to our access point. Bring your own tubes, kayaks and life jackets, and tie a bandanna at the exit so you know where to get out. The Tuscarora Trail parking area is a 3 minute drive or a 15 minute walk. Shenandoah River State Park's main entrance is about 15 minutes away by car, and Shenandoah National Park about 25.

GETTING HERE

The roads are paved except the last half mile of state road and our quarter mile driveway. Any car is fine in normal weather. AWD helps in snow over 6 inches.

CHECK IN AND HOUSE RULES

• Self check in after 4 pm with a keypad. Checkout by 11 am, and we can't offer late checkout. Early check in is possible when the night before is open; we confirm by 5 pm the day before.
• Up to 6 guests, the limit set by the HOA, county and state.
• No pets. No smoking. No parties or events. The person booking must be 21 or older.
• Virginia doesn't allow outdoor fires before 4 pm from Feb 15 to Apr 30. The gas fireplaces and grill are fine then.

WATER

Well water, filtered by a Culligan system that's serviced and tested every quarter. The cabin is on a septic system.
